Starlink Maritime is published in The most Instagrammed in the world luxury yacht color yacht. color He has an Instagram following of nearly 62,000 followers at the time of this article. I talked to color Captain Paul Clark shared his Starlink Maritime experience with Teslarati.
in March , color Bitcoin rental fees have been accepted, coinciding with the yacht’s first visit to Europe. after reading recent article about teslarati, Paul reached out to give us his thoughts on Starlink Maritime.
During our phone call, Paul told me a little bit about the cost of Loon, the upgrade to Starlink, and how much better internet speeds compare to with Viasat.
“We have one superyacht, a $30 million 180-foot luxury yacht. We upgraded to Starlink the day it became available for marine setup,” he told me.
He said the speeds are fixed at 150-200 Mbps and he only pays $5000 per month which is much less expensive than his previous ISP.
“Previously we had Viasat which we considered good with speeds of 40-80Mbps for $10,000 per month and about $50,000 in equipment.”
Since switching to Starlink, Paul has saved a lot of money and gotten more speed than he had before.
“Starlink is still in its infancy and will only get better.”
color He was one of the first ships to deploy the Starlink Maritime he knew of, Paul told me. Servicing the yacht for at least six weeks and crossing the Atlantic put Starlink to the test.
“With the boat crossing the Atlantic, it was a good test to see if it would work or not. But I called Starlink support and they said they plan to run it in the fourth quarter probably by November.”
color He spends the summer in the Mediterranean and plans to spend the winter in the Caribbean. Paul plans to test Starlink over the Atlantic when color Returns to the Mediterranean.
“We are on our way to Florida now and plan to spend the next four to six weeks in Florida just to make sure of the annual maintenance of the boat. And then we head to the Caribbean. It will be a good test of that area too before returning to the Mediterranean probably in May from next year.”
I asked Paul if he had any comments he’d like to share and he told me he thinks Starlink Maritime is great.
“I think this is great. Honestly, we were very happy with it in the early days and I think it completely changed the rules of the game. The fact that we can stream multiple streams in HD while before we struggled with one stream maybe two streams. Every TV on the boat can be played for Netflix and live sports without Problems. It is definitely highly recommended.”
In July, SpaceX announced Starlink Maritime It is for ocean ships while at sea. Ships, boats, commercial vessels, yachts and even oil rigs can benefit from the latest Starlink products. Recently, Royal Caribbean announced They were publishing Starlink, however, we don’t have to wait for Royal Caribbean to give us a Starlink Maritime review.
