A glowing fireball lights up the sky over Scotland and Northern Ireland

A bright fireball streaked across the sky late at night on September 14 in the United Kingdom.

At first, some observers thought the sizzling ball of light might be a piece of space junk, possibly from one of SpaceX’s Starlink satellites. But after some quick calculations, the UK Meteor Network determined that the fireball was caused by a small space rock entering Earth’s atmosphere.
